Making a commitment to never return, Stephanie Barnes served her last day at The Central Detention Facility (CDF/DC Jail) in 1995. She soon realized that transitioning back into what was considered a normal livelihood was no easy task. Eventually, Ms. Barnes picked up a few side jobs, yet understanding the lack of platforms for individuals trying to re-establish themselves, she opted to take steps towards making a difference. As a victim now survivor of Domestic Abuse, Recovering Drug Addiction and a successful returning citizen, she wanted to provide pre-and-post release services to women returning to the community.
